The proposed improvements to the Mississauga Civic Square have received a lot of good and bad press of late. I would just like to point out two other projects that are similar and the impact that they have had.
The Toronto City Hall Public Square took a few years to get it right but is now a focal point for live entertainment and public gatherings.
The Yonge Dundas Square, in my opinion a hideous waste of tax payers money has very slowly gained some momentum, especially at night.
Spending tax dollars to create spaces for public gathering is one of the important social functions of any government. Left to the private sector you get Yonge/Dundas. One huge video commercial. Perhaps this is exciting if you are twelve years old.

Let the City of Mississauga show us the design.

Young/Dundas might be exciting for tourists...but not sure why. Not sure I'd take someone visiting from out of town there. I think Harbourfront is a better choice. They've done a lot down there over the past few years, and always a lot of fun free activities plus you're a 15 minute walk from China Town, Queen West, the Skydome, Kensington Market. To me...a much better representation of our great city.

The space around the Civic Centre is really starting to work. Concerts, gatherings, daycare, the library... it has become what every municipality wants for their core. Congratulations on a successful plan (like most things in Mississauga) that has been properly executed.
